It's an alright school and I'm glad I chose to come here. I think my review is fair to the school and the people within it. If you're considering sending your child here, my review consists of a few paragraphs talking about subjects, uniform, teachers, general behaviour.Subject wise, there aren't as many options for GCSEs offered as other school (eg film and media, philosophy, psychology, sociology etc, or at least there weren't in 2016). Unfortunately Frogmore has yet to open up a proper workshop for subjects like motor vehicle maintenance and construction, meaning student have to go to Fernhill for part of the day to do these. Additionally, some students are left not being about to do one of their preferred subjects as it clashes with one of their others. For example, I was unable to do any of the design techs as they clashes with drama. On the whole, the majority of the subjects are taught well and are with a good exam board.Frogmore loves to claim it operates at the highest standards and that appearance is important etc, however they can be quite lenient. In year 7, we were told we needed black backpacks and weren't allowed anything else. Spent money on a backpack and only used it once, because quite frankly, the school doesn't care when it comes to the bags people use. Anything other than an earlobe stud in each ear is banned, but there are teachers with multiple ear piercings and nose piercings. There's a ban on 'extreme' hair styles and colour, but the definition of extreme changes between students. I briefly had purple hair, as did one of my friends, yet another student dyed their fringe blue and was told to dye it back as soon as possible. The school insists on students wearing blazors during the winter and spring term. You must wear a white shirt underneath with the option of wearing a jumper. You cannot wear the winter and spring uniform without a blazor. This uniform can be VERY uncomfortable as blazors ruck up and they tend to rip easily. With the white shirt, you must wear a tie that has your house colours on it. This tie must have seven stripes on it, which doesn't take the students' size into account. Tiny year sevens could be wearing ties down to their knees whilst year elevens will have seven stripes and it barely passes their belly buttons - perhaps this is something the school needs to think about. Unfortunately Frogmore has jumped on the bandwagon of extorting students and now demands they buy jumpers you can only get from the school. This is the same with the PE uniform and usually the blazors.During the summer, students can wear either the winter and spring uniform or the summer uniform, which is a pale blue polo shirt (which again must be bought from the school because of the logo) with or without a blazor. You aren't allowed to wear a jumper with the summer uniform.Though this school is academically brilliant, I have found some of the teachers don't match that standard. During my time at Frogmore, I found many of the teachers were unable to control classes. From 2014 - 2016, some of my lessons and teachers were subpar in subjects such as drama and French. Other teachers - such as Chris Vaudin (currently head teacher) who taught me in 2011, a few of the English teachers, both of the history teachers and one of the science teachers - are brilliant. In regards to managing behaviour, the school is alright. Though the majority of students behave themselves, I found that often the same students were in trouble and in the BMR (behaviour management room). I personally don't think the school really does enough to punish bad behaviour. The punishment a step under being excluded is being sat in the BMR for a day and then having to report to your teachers, tutor and DOP for a few weeks after. There doesn't seem to be any real punishment or lesson taught to reinforce the rules.Well done if you've read this all, I hope this helps you make your mind up on whether or not to send your child here :)
